3D Pictures With Anaglyph 3D Glasses

By: Joe Healy

Films released as 3D in theaters will also provide a 3D experience on DVD and Blu-Ray with 3D glasses. The first Blu-ray 3D disk will be the Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert released by Disney studios in August 2008. Disney Channel aired it originally in July of 2008, for viewing with red-cyan paper 3D glasses.
Very likely, it will employ similar 3D glasses for the Blu-Ray release. The greater clarity of blu-ray, and the learning curve at Disney, has greatly improved red-cyan anaglyph 3D Glasses, especially in relation to close overlay of the 3D images, such as they have followed in their animation projects. Most Disney theatrical 3D images show far less mal-registration, compared to old fashioned polarized or anaglyph technique.

Anaglyph 3D Glasses - What Makes Them Tick?

Viewing anaglyphs through appropriately colored 3D glasses results in each eye seeing a slightly different picture. An example is the red-blue anaglyph 3D glasses, the red filtered lens makes the red parts of the image appear as "white", while the blue parts are seen as "black". (the brain makes adaptations for color)When you cover the eye with the blue filter, you will see the opposite effect. Pure black or white areas could be perceived the same by every eye Each eye sends an image to the brain, which blends the two together while explaining any discrepancies as being caused by differing distances. The result? An ordinary stereograph image, but one that doesn't make you go cross-eyed!
