5 Steps For Relocating To Paradise

By: James Steele

Is there anyone here who has not had the dream of living in paradise? I did not think so. For many people Hawaii is the ultimate paradise and once they set foot on its beaches they start to wonder about just what it will take to make that dream a reality. Let us take a moment and walk through a few practical steps that can get you there.

First, search for jobs on the major job listing sites like Monster or Career Builder. Also look at the local Hawaiian newspapers, which will probably be online and have a full list of help wanted adds. This will give you a great idea if there is a demand for workers in your specialty. Or if you starting out for a first job, give you ideas of fields that are available.

You will also get the chance to find out what kinds of wages and salaries are being offered in Hawaii because the same jobs pay can vary drastically from state to state and city to city. If you are really lucky and find a company that is hiring, they might even fly you out for an interview at their own expense and pay for relocation if you want to hire you.

Second, search for housing now that you have your job prospects narrowed down or figured out. At this point you will know if you need to live on a specific island to be able to commute to your work. This will greatly narrow down your housing search and make the decision making much easier.

Now that you have a salary idea and a housing expense idea you can start putting together your budget and move on to the next step.

Search for moving companies to put this move in motion. Talk to several different relocation companies and shippers to find the company that is the most professional and fits within your budget. This will not be cheap and may encourage to you think about how much of your stuff you really need and what you may want to give away.

The fourth step is search for temporary housing and is optional. Often times it can be worthwhile to live in a short term rental in your new city so that you can get a real feel for the area and your new job. If for some reason, you change your mind on the location it is much easier to make a change till you find the right place.

Finally, make your move. Now that you have done your extensive research you just need to pull the trigger. Relocating to Hawaii is far from impossible, it just takes a little dedication to put it all together. As you can see, research can make all the difference, so that when you put your plan in action it goes as smoothly as possible.
