A Great Way To Speed Up Global Warming – Ethanol!

As the myth around global warming begins to unravel and Operation Desperation sets in, it's important for the public to know why biofuels aren't the answer to solving global warming. Biofuel, as you probably know or can guess from the name, is any energy source derived from living organisms of any kind. The most prevalent variety of biofuel is Ethanol made from corn and combined with gasoline into something called E85, and this is a mixture in a ratio of 15:85 gasoline:ethanol. But the actual ratio is subject to change due to the outside temperatrue and it might be better named E70-85. During the Winter months you need more gasoline in the mixture to ensure the fuel works properly, so E85 is at least 70% ethanol.
The need for gasoline then, would drop by 70% or more and that would be a tremendous advantage…not as good as having no more need for gasoline, but better than what we have right now for sure. So that is not the problem with Ethanol, particulary.
The real problems with Ethanol follow… Biofuels such as E85 are causing food shortages globally. The series of bad results from the decision to use ethanol as alternative fuel are fascinating, almost like a Rube Goldberg invention gone horribly wrong. Most ethanol is derived from corn. Corn therefore has huge demand. Therefore farmers are growing more corn than wheat and soy. So now instead of having not enough corn you have not enough corn, soy and wheat… it gets worse As a result of that situation you end up with problems of great magnitude in the lack of land on which to grow corn and other staples, soaring food prices and, yes, potential starvation of the poor.
So the question becomes where to get the land from so as to grow the corn for both food and fuel? This is where the whole situation goes psychotic from the viewpoint of environmentalism. Back in the 80s, environmentalists told us that if we would only plant more trees we would save the world, remember? As if every day was Arbor Day, everyone was told that the solution was to just plant more trees and that was the main message being pushed from the green people and even corporations were including it as part of their public relations and marketing… that they were helping the cause, planting trees, etc. But the only way to make more land from which to grow corn is… deforestation! So now we are told to hell with the trees, burn them down, rape the forests and grow corn! Buy a gallon, kill a tree. Critics have been upset by the rapid destruction of tropical rainforests, which have been levelled to allow farms to grow biofuel crops.
Deforestation has been found to cause approximately 18 percent of the planet's greenhouse gas emissions and many scientists view the concept of wiping out forest land for the purposes of growing crops for biofuel to be simply crazy.
So let’s forget about a future economy based on Ethanol from corn. It ain’t gonna happen!
But here is something that IS happening right now!
