A User's Guidebook to Marmaris Which Is Located In Turkey

By: Lucy Evans

During the summer months, you can visit the European resort town of Marmaris, which is on the coastline of Turkey, and is known as a hub of sophisticated tourism. When you come across the north eastern Mediterranean shore, it is actually the first town along the well-known `Turquoise Coast`. Marmaris, which was built around a large bay at the base of mountains thick with trees, has a modern marina which acts as a base for sailing the Mediterranean, by catering to both private yachts and commercial cruise lines. Local storytellers claim that Marmaris got its name when Suleyman the Magnificent, upon discovering that he did not like the finished results of the stronghold he had ordered built, exclaimed, `Mimari as!which translates roughly to `Hang the architect

Marmaris shopping can be a pleasant experience. Search out incredible deals on a wide array of items such as jewelry, ceramics, leather and carpets with the best bargains typically at the Carsi Markey in the Ottoman Castle where you can find over 200 shops and a flea market open all week long including a bustling Thursday market with locals selling fruits and vegetables next to fabrics and clothing. Make sure you take the time to prepare yourself fully for your time in Maramis. A good number of vendors chiefly found in the market, cheat the customers in the garb of middlemen which is not only illegal but also disturbing. As a rule, it is expected that shoppers bargain with them over prices, except in the larger shops. Already cheap items can be negotiated down an additional 30%. Buyers should be aware, however, that a large number of fake designer goods are offered at Marmaris. So if you find a great price on a Rolex watch that you’d like to have, you should expect that it is a fake. Of course, this doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t buy it as in Turkey, fakes are of good quality!

Marmaris offers hundreds of eateries catering to every taste and every pocketbook: from local Turkish specialties at Lokanta to cuisines from around the globe. A range of foods can be had here, ranging from tasty Chinese, filling German, or the always popular Italian. Don`Along the way, you must not miss all the traditional Turkish delights such as doner kebabs and seafood meze dishes.

The savage and non-indigenous evenings in Marmaris often encircle Bar Street by the waterfront. Here you can find all the nightclubs and bars, overflowing with people until as late as 4am. Most restaurants are open all night to cater to the late night partiers. Warm up at Davy Jones` Locker with affordable cocktails and endless dancing, cool down beachside at Vegabundo with the `boogey on the bar` staff and at Cheers enjoy an alfresco cocktail while watching the drag show.
