Care and Maintenance Of Your iPod and iPod Accessories

Your ipod and ipod accessories are designed to work seamlessly with each other, but this is only possible if they are both kept in good condition. iPods are very sensitive, which is why there are so many iPod accessories devoted to protecting them, from socks to cases designed to withstand thirty feet of water. You probably do not need that level of extreme protection, but you should still make sure that you are not carrying your iPod around, case free, in your hand which is a sure recipe for disaster.

Purchase a case for your iPod, preferably one with belt clip, since this will reduce incidences of dropping. If you must touch the buttons of your iPod with your bare hands, make sure that your hands are clean and free of food particles. This may sound like common sense, but then again, how many people do you know who have accidentally dropped food and spilled drinks on their keyboards. Probably quite a few.

You should also pay attention to where you are downloading your music from. Some P2P sharing sites, even the legitimate ones can contain corrupted song files that can cause your Ipod to freeze. If this happens, toggle the hold switch on and off and then hold down the center, menu, and play buttons until the Apple logo reappears. This will usually correct the problem, but it is still a good idea to only download music from a trusted source.

Most iPod accessories, including headphones, personal media viewers like Myvu products, and charger kits and cables are heat sensitive. In other words, try to limit their exposure to direct sunlight and store them with the cords wrapped to avoid fraying and breakage. From time to time, you may want to clean them with a mild cleanser designed expressly for that purpose to remove fingerprints, dust, dirt, and other debris.

Be sure to keep all manuals, warranty cards and other information in a safe place, either in the original boxes or in a file cabinet. This way, you will always know where they are in case you need to refer to them. Also, be sure to fill out the warranty cards for your products. It only makes sense to protect your investments.

Following these simple tips will help to extend the life of both your iPod and your iPod accessories and help you to get the most out of them. Be sure to check online for product updates periodically as well, since these will also enhance the life and performance of your devices.
