Do You Have The Qualifications To Work As A Valet Parking Attendant?

By: Ryan Tolle

If you're looking for a great part time (or even full time) job that pays well, then you can't beat getting a job as a valet parking attendant. These positions are pleasant and with gratuities, (in addition to your base wage), should prove pretty lucrative. Along with the good income, the job has additional benefits. Like freedom, for one. At many valet parking companies you'll be allowed to pick which days you'll work.

You can see a valet parking job can be pretty cushy. But how do you grab one? What are valet parking firms seeking in workers? They can afford to be quite selective as far as hiring new people, due to the fact that the positions are so rewarding. Well, let's see what makes for a great job applicant.

First thing, they'll be looking at your driving history. Because, if they hire you, you'll be behind the wheels of their guests' vehicles, this will be of utmost concern. They will demand that you secure a certified copy of your driving record from your local law enforcement agency. They are seeking people with exemplary driving histories. The ideal prospects will be those that have no violations and no accidents. Are you saying that if someone's driving record isn't squeaky clean that they don't have a chance? No, not all the time. The vast majority of applicants will have something bad in their driving histories. But the fewer negative items a job seeker has, the better.

Secondly, they'll tell you to provide a certified copy of your police record. I don't need to tell you that if an applicant has some arrests for illegal behavior, they're probably wasting their time. The firms will not be interested in someone that might drive off with a customer's car or valuables.

Drug testing will almost always be required, for obvious reasons. In addition, appearance will be an important factor. Not that someone needs to be gorgeous. That's not what we mean. But someone who wants work as a valet parking attendant should come across as a professional. What this boils down to is that lots of piercings or tattoos are out.

There you go! So if you meet these criteria, you have a real good shot at landing the position!
