The public perception of body art has definitely changed over the years. Just a few short decades ago, body art was considered something that was usually only done by criminals. Now body art is something that people from many different kinds of backgrounds are doing as a means of self expression. Although body art is meant to be permanent, there are some people who, for various reasons, fall out of love with their body art.

These are the people who now have to start thinking about the cost of laser tattoo removal. Ironically, of the many people who get tattoos and do their research on the actual design that they want, many are not really all that familiar with how a tattoo is actually applied. The actual anatomical structure is very important in determining the overall cost of laser tattoo removal.

Everyone who gets a tattoo for the first time remarks that it is not the most painless thing to do. Tattoo veterans still might even flinch sometimes while they are adding to their collection. The skin itself is like a sponge, and when a tattoo is being applied, that sponge is being poked by needles. These needles are simultaneously poking holes into the upper epidermal layers, and injecting these layers with tattoo ink.

The tattoo ink then bonds to the skin molecules, thereby making the tattoo permanent. Once a person gets a tattoo, they are given strict instructions, some of which include directions on how to keep the tattoo out of the sun at all times. The reason for this is because the light of the sun carries intense ultraviolet rays, which in turn will break up and fade the ink clad skin molecules. This is part of the reason why laser light is considered to be one of the most effective ways to get rid of a tattoo.

When it comes to figuring out the cost of laser tattoo removal, obviously the fees of the dermatologist and the topical anesthetic cream are going to have to be taken into consideration. However, the thing that will affect the cost of laser tattoo removal the most is the amount of sessions that a person will need in order to successful get rid of the tattoo. Each removal session costs a couple hundred dollars, but even that amount can change in accordance with how long each removal session lasts.

The placement, size, and coloration of the tattoo are all factors that affect the overall cost. When it comes to the placement, the thicker the skin is in the area where the tattoo is, then the longer it will take to remove the tattoo, since there are so many more skin molecules that the ink could have bonded to. Obviously, the larger the tattoo, the longer it will take to remove. Lastly, the darker the colors of the tattoo, the longer each removal session. It is important to note that each session will be split up over a few weeks to a few months in order to prevent scarring.
