Taking In The Sights Of Old Sacramento By Limo

Sacramento is the capital of the State of California and is increasingly becoming one of the favored tourist destinations in the west. The most attractive prospect of a visit to Sacramento is the old quarter of the city, popularly known as Old Sacramento. It is a place where you can experience the Wild West, and is one of the few places where this old heritage is conserved in an amazing manner that gives you the feel of stepping back in time.

Founded by John Sutter in the mid-nineteenth century, Sacramento received worldwide popularity due to the famous "Gold Rush" that changed the fortunes of the town. Sutter received the land grants for the area by the Mexican government, and he worked hard to establish a trading center, and cattle ranch. In 1848, gold was discovered in some nearby sawmills, many of the workers of Sacramento left for those mines. It also resulted in a large migration wave, when people from all around the world swamped Sacramento to make their fortunes. Sacramento became the main supply point for the gold miners, and also acted as the Western Headquarters of the Transcontinental Railroad.

Today's old district of Sacramento is spread around four blocks near downtown and has become a big tourist attraction. One of the great ways top explore Old Sacramento is by hiring a limo from one of the many limo rental companies in the city. The old city flaunts more than 100 restored buildings developed through one of the largest restoration projects in the state. You can also take a 45-minute trip on the Central Pacific Railroad steam train on the weekends in summer. Sacramento Jazz Festival is one more attractions during the Memorial Day weekend, which features more than 100 jazz bands from across the globe. If you want to know more about the California history, then you should visit the Discovery Museum and History Center. Sutter's Fort State Historic Park is place to visit if you want to experience the lifestyle of the mid-nineteenth century. Here you can experience the gold rush period, and you might probably forget that you are living in the 21st century.
