The use of peptides in today's science

In human organism amino acids are connected and adhered by means of polymers called peptides. This connection is called peptide bond. When lots of peptides mould a molecule, it is named a protein or a polypeptide molecule. The main thing which draws attention of the scientists researching peptides is the type and amount of amino acid.

Peptide synthesis may be conducted owing to the restricted length of peptide rows. Peptide synthesis from amino acids is called peptides. Newest technologies operating among with hi tech equipment allow producing peptide chains of bigger length. So the name does not affect the essence.

The classification of peptides has been created after the researches that determine how peptides are produced. First class of peptides called ribosomal. They are formed as a result of translation of messenger ribonucleic acid. During the progress of reaching maturity peptides are involved into digestion action by ferments. This process is named as proteolysis. If we talking about higher creatures, peptides are very important there as they can even be used as signaling substances.

There are peptides that are got together by their unique enzyme characteristics rather than by the ribosome. Such peptides are named nonribosomal. One example of a nonribosomal peptide is glutathione that executes antioxidant functions in some organisms. Researches say which peptides are included even in some plants. Biologists notice that one more class of peptides exists. Such peptides are included into milk and some digested food. When bacteria or fungi are grown in food, peptones are utilized to nurture them.

Peptides are very helpful for performing some molecular biological researches as they promote the creation of peptide antibodies and biologists do not have to get a pure protein to check it. Antigenic peptides are not able to be synthesized for the entire amount of needed protein, but only for part of it. Later these parts assist to produce antibodies in the animals.

One more elucidation for increased scientific concern to peptides is that they are commonly used in mass spectrometry. Mass spectrometry is able to track all the way of peptide creating and improvement and all the required data is only mass and sequence of peptide.

Peptides also help scientists study and uncover new and existing proteins and their functions. All such experiments are based on tracking the actions that comprise peptides. So the scientists have got a great chance to describe all the needed actions on any stage of their development. Probably, even such earnest diseases as neoplasm will be cured by the methods founded on peptides analysis.
