A proxy is a useful tool to use. There are literally thousands of them out there on the Internet today. They allow you to surf anonymously without the fear of your personal details getting into the wrong hands. A proxy acts as a middle man that sits in between your computer and the Internet. Because of this, it handles all data on your behalf so protected to the outside world. When you browse the Internet, the websites can only see the proxy and not you personally.

It is easy to find a proxy on the Internet. All you have to do is search for one via Yahoo or Google and you will get loads in the search results come up. Once you access the proxy, just type in the URL in the box provided and you can surf the Internet like you would normally. The only difference is that you now have anonymity and another layer of protection from hackers and viruses.

Once you have found a proxy you now want to make sure it is trustworthy. A good indication of whether a proxy is reliable and honest is the age of the website. Ones with malicious intent are usually there one day and then gone the next. Try and find one that is over one year old to be totally safe. The second most important thing to consider is location. Make sure, ideally, that the proxy is being hosted in a country that has tight privacy laws in place. This will stop the proxy site owner from releasing your browsing habits if he were to take records. Panama is a good country to watch out for. Panama probably has the strongest privacy and secrecy laws in the world today.

If you are not on a tight budget and have some spare cash, you may want to invest some money in a paid product that offers encryption as one of its features. Encryption will give you an even greater level of privacy as the data that is being transmitted and received is jumbled up randomly. This means that if someone were to hack your Internet connection then all they would get is total gibberish. This gives you even greater level of privacy and is highly recommended if you are not on a tight budget.
