    There are many ways of classifying the human mind and its ability to withhold knowledge. The most common categorizing used is based on the duration of memory retention, especially the sensory, short term and long term memory. Short term memory points to the recent memory, and is most of the time short-lived in our memory. A colloquial example would be when you meet many new people, cursorily introduced at a party. Long term memory, on the contrary, can be likened to a computer chip where every single data or knowledge that you have aquired is kept.
